One who travels to Australia from overseas has to complete a DPD, including Australian citizens returning from abroad, as well as tourists and other visitors. This information helps the Australian Government determine your quarantine arrangements (if required). It allows the relevant health departments to contact you if someone you traveled with tests positive for COVID-19.

You can use the free mobile Australia Digital Passenger Declaration app by downloading it from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play store (Android). If you cannot use the mobile app, you can submit your DPD using the DPD online form.
You can begin filling out a Digital Passenger Declaration up to seven days before traveling to Australia. But you can’t submit and finalize that declaration until you’re within 72 hours of your flight’s scheduled departure time.
